EDITOR:

One of the most important things all of us can do to protect our democracy is to vote. The primary election is coming up on Aug. 2. If you are new to Missouri, or have changed your address or name, or are a young person age at least 17.5 and who will be 18 by election day, please update or complete your voter registration.

Libraries are a good place to complete the form, as is your local election board. Unfortunately, the Missouri DMV may not forward the voter registration information to the local election board. If you have registered through the DMV or other location, check with your local election board to make sure they have the correct information.

Updates and new voter registration must be done by July 6 for you to vote in the Aug. 2 primary.

Platte County Election Board: 816-858-4400.
