Three motorcycles were involved in a crash in Platte County on Memorial Day, injuring four persons, including one with possible life-threatening injuries.

The operator of the first motorcycle, a 55-year-old man from St. Joseph and his passenger, a 40-year-old female from St. Joseph, were transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Operator of the second motorcycle, a 53-year-old man from Kansas City, was treated at the scene for apparent minor injuries, authorities say.

Suffering possible life-threatening injuries, authorities say, was the driver of the third motorcycle, a 39-year-old man from St. Joseph. He was transported by air ambulance to an area hospital.

Holland said the crash is currently under investigation by the Platte County Sheriff’s’ Office Crash Team. Holland added preliminary investigation indicates speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
