30 Years Ago–May 29, 1992

At a meeting of the Platte County Sheltered Facilities board on May 11, the following board members were elected as officeholders: president, LaDonna Ebright; vice president Mary Jane McKinnon; treasurer, Kenneth Walkup; secretary Violet Sanders. Fellow board members are Howard Breen, Jim Farley, Linda Grenier, Dr. Carl Myers, and Rhoda Powers.


Teachers in the Platte County R-3 School District will receive an increase in pay of about 3.5% for the 1992-93 school year. That decision was made by the R-3 school board after an executive session at the board’s regular monthly meeting held Thursday at the Barry School.


Matt Reineke, 7, a first grader at Platte City Elementary, has won a “Reflections” state honorable mention for his photograph of his little brother. The theme was “Exploring New Beginnings.” The program is sponsored by the PTA. Matt is the son of Dannie and Donna Reineke.


Platte City Mayor Pearl Brown Thursday challenged the audience to help set the goals for the city. She spoke briefly before the Platte City Chamber of Commerce. The mayor said the city needs to provide for recycling, improve the infrastructure and provide for infrastructure growth. The city needs to develop a park, she said.
