A well-known face in local political races has decided to throw his hat in the ring for the 2008 Platte County Commission race. Former Parkville alderman and mayor Bill Quitmeier announced he will be a Democratic candidate trying to win the district one seat serving southern Platte County. Both Parkville Mayor Kathy Dusenbery and current commissioner Tom Pryor will be vying for the Republican nomination.


Kansas City police and Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd are asking for the public’s help in solving a three year old case involving a dead newborn found along a road in Platte County. “Precious Joe,” as the baby has been dubbed, was found by electrical workers on April 26, 2004 near Tiffany Springs Road and North Hull. Precious Joe was a white male newborn.


Jason Brown, Missouri State Representative for the 30th district, has returned from serving a total of more than 14 months in Iraq. A large crowd of family and friends gathered at the KCI terminal early Tuesday evening to welcome him home.


It was preceded by much discussion and a little hesitation, but in the end a site plan for construction of a Price Chopper superstore was approved by the Platte City Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday night at City Hall.
