Rick Radcliffe, North Platte R-1 principal, will be joining former R-1 superintendent Mike Newell in the Bowling Green School District. Radcliffe has accepted a position as assistant principal at Bowling Green, about 30 miles south of Hannibal. He will take over his new job on Aug. 1.


Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Armstrong of Platte City have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Laquetta Marie, to Steven Michael Kerwin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kerwin of Ravenwood, Mo.

John and Helen Heath attended the wedding of their niece, Teresa Huxtable, and Tim Lacey at Plattsburg. The bride is a granddaughter of Eleanor Cockriel.


With a strong showing in running events, the Platte County Lady Pirates raced their way to a second place finish in the annual Platte County Invitational held last week.


A Kansas City mobile zoo unit visited the Platte City Elementary School last week as part of a PTA program. Sally Smith of the zoo showed students a variety of animals.


Platte County Commissioners received a plaque for Community Action support. Commission members are Scott Spangler, Carol Tomb and Chuck Reineke.
