Platte County earns first in health rankings

The 2022 County Health Rankings and Roadmap report shows Platte County ranked as first in the state for health outcomes and health factors. This is the third year Platte County has ranked first in both categories.

“Being ranked first in the state for health outcomes and factors is certainly something to be proud of,” said Andrew Warlen, MPH, director, Platte County Health Department. “However, working towards better health in the county is ongoing and it takes all of us working together to ensure we meet that goal.”

Communities thrive when all people can be healthy in their neighborhoods, schools and workplaces. The County Health Rankings and Roadmap brings actionable data and strategies to communities working to ensure that healthy places are available to all. The 2022 report shows that how long and how well people live varies by their location within a state and how economic security is both tied to residents’ health and variable depending on their location.

“The data from the County Health Rankings and Roadmap report will help us, our partners and the community move toward health equity, the idea that everyone deserves a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible,” Warlen said.

The County Health Rankings and Roadmap program provides data, evidence, guidance and examples to build awareness of the multiple factors that influence health. The Rankings measure the health of nearly every county in all 50 states and are complemented by guidance, tools and resources designed to accelerate community learning and action. The report is known for translating and communicating complex data and evidence-informed policy into accessible models, reports and products that deepen the understanding of what makes communities healthy and supports improvement efforts.
