R-3, Park Hill, West Platte voters make choices
Voters in local districts elected school board members at Tuesday’s election, in which voter turnout was higher than predicted.
Local election officials had predicted voter turnout across the county would come in at 12-15 percent. The actual turnout when the political smoke cleared was notably higher, at 18.85 percent.
As for the school results, Platte County R-3 voters elected two new school board members from a field of eight: Winning the two spots were Michael Matousek and Shawn Chiddix. Final vote totals, including results from the Platte County portion as well as the small portion of the R-3 district that spills into Clay County, are:

Meanwhile at Park Hill, voters chose two newcomers to replace incumbents Todd Fane and Susan Newburger, whose not to seek re-election. Winning at Park Hill were Daryl Terwilleger and Shereka Barnes.

Park Hill voters also supported two ballot questions. Proposition I asked voters to approve general obligation bonds in the amount of $137 million to construct, acquire, improve, renovate and furnish new and existing facilities, including the construction of an elementary school and acquisition of land. That question passed with 6,571 in favor to 2,308 opposed.
Proposition N at Park Hill asked voters to approve increasing the operating property tax levy ceiling to $4.9907 per $100 of assessed valuation for the purpose of paying general operating expenses. It passed with 5,816 in favor and 3,019 opposed.
The adjusted operating property tax levy is expected to increase by 28 cents from $4.4046 to $4.6746. However, the overall district adjusted property tax levy is expected to remain unchanged at $5.3955 as a result of an expected reduction to the district debt service levy.
At West Platte R-2, voters elected Tyler French and Donald R. Wilson to fill two board positions. Also running was Christine Marie Corbett. Vote totals at West Platte were:
