A Facebook tech center is coming to the Northland and with it millions upon millions of dollars of assessed valuation eventually could (should) hit the tax rolls for the school district, if things go as planned.

As this week’s edition of The Landmark is rolling off the press, the Parkville Board of Aldermen is moments away from apparently taking up the item of what to do with a recommendation from the city-appointed ethics commission. As reported last week, the ethics commission ruled Mayor Nan Johnston guilty of eight violations of the city ethics code. The ethics commission recommended a strongly written reprimand be issued to the mayor by the board of aldermen. It’s not exactly harsh punishment, but let’s celebrate the fact that a committee appointed by the city actually found the city’s highest elected official guilty of something. For Parkville, this is a step in the right direction toward accountability.
It’s not known at this writing if Nan’s cronies on the board of aldermen will follow through with that recommendation. I wouldn’t go in with high hopes. The aldermen’s virtual silence through all of Nan’s less-than-ethical adventures in governing the past few years has spoken volumes to this point.

March Madness reminds me of the days when former KU coach Roy Williams would refer to himself in the third person.
Sources close to Ivan Foley are telling me Ivan Foley expected to be out of town this week greeting the arrival of a new granddaughter. Sources are now telling me Ivan Foley may in fact not be out of town since said granddaughter has not yet arrived. That’s what sources are saying about Ivan Foley. Hopefully we can get a confirmation from Ivan Foley at some point.
