The value of a local newspaper

EDITOR:

Joyce and I would like to thank you for all you have done in reporting on what was really happening with the planning for the “improvements” at Platte Landing Park. We believe that without your newspaper’s involvement we would have ended up with a sports complex in the park. As it is now, the citizens of Parkville have spoken very clearly as to what they would like to have in their park.

You and your staff have proven the value of the small town/local newspaper. You did something that several of the aldermen in Parkville would not do–you listened, investigated and gave us a voice.

There were many people who helped communicate our thoughts as to what was being planned at Platte Landing Park and it is obvious many more listened. We thank all of those who helped and expressed their opinions through their voting on what they wanted in the park.

Your reporting significantly helped communicate the truth.
