Workmen were busy this past week putting a new sloping roof on the Mid-Continent Public Library system’s Platte City branch. The work is part of an enlargement of the Platte City library building from 4,000 sq. ft. to 6,500 sq. ft.


John and Teresa Bears have announced the birth of their daughter, Angela Renee, born Feb. 2. She weighed eight pounds, 10 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Roy and Nina Cook. Paternal grandparents are Robert and Mary Bears.

Ward B. Stuckey has been appointed as the new Platte County Circuit Court judge to replace Judge John M. Yeaman, who is retiring. The appointment was made Monday by Missouri Gov. John Ashcroft. Stuckey, 56, will take over the job next week.


Danielle Findley, who starred in the Broadway musical Annie 2 and has been featured on Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight, Prime Time Live and several other shows and magazines will be singing at the Platte City Christian Church at the Feb. 16 fellowship dinner.


Nathan Snook was honored recently when he scored his 1,000th point since playing high school basketball. Nathan, the son of Earl and Dianne Snook, is a junior at North Platte.
