Ronald Francis Porter, 86, of Platte City, a former member of the Platte City Board of Aldermen for many years, died on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022. His family said he had been fighting the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

Porter was elected six times to serve on the Platte City Board of Aldermen, representing ward two for more than 10 years. His time on the board included construction of significant capital projects including reconstruction of all streets as hard surface roads with curb, gutter and stormwater systems as well as major improvements to the city’s water and wastewater systems.

Porter was a lifelong resident of Platte County. According to his obituary, he graduated from Park Hill High School and worked a variety of jobs as a young family man. He eventually found a permanent home at TWA Airlines where he enjoyed unlimited travel while still doing cement work.

Ron enjoyed spending time with his family whether playing board games such as Aggravation, or taking his grandkids to the lake.

He was a member of the Platte City United Methodist Church and maintained friendships from high school and his places of employment.
