45 Years Ago–January 7, 1977

Platte Fair supermarket has changed its name to Platte Fair IGA. It will be open for business in May. The store will cover a quarter of an acre at the northeast corner of the intersection of Hwy. 169 and 92. David Cutting, Jr. will be the manager.


The marriage of Elaine Walker to Marvin C. Black, both of Platte City, took place on Jan. 1, 1977 in the chapel of the First Christian Church of Platte City. Elaine’s children are LCDR Don E. Walker, U.S. Navy, Japan, and Mrs. Rick D. Lowrey of Chillicothe.


Mrs. Dell (Jewell) Stubbs of Kansas City has published two books for her poetry. Her work is printed often in a Liberty paper.


Edward J. Milliman was reelected Tuesday as commissioner to the Platte City Benefit Assessment Special Road District. Milliman received 103 votes to defeat John Morelli, who received 14 votes.


Mr. and Mrs. John Patton and family enjoyed several days of skiing in Colorado during the holidays.


Lawrence Wright retired from his duties at TWA last week.


John McKee returned home this week from Spelman Memorial Hospital. He is recovering after surgery,
