30 Years Ago–January 10, 1992

A city employee, Pearl Brown, is the first person to file for mayor in the Platte City election. Jack Hansel was also one of the first to sign up, as he filed for re-election to the judge’s post.


Installation of a new stop light at Hwy. 92 and Prairie View in Platte City is underway, state highway department officials said this week. Completion is expected later this week. The light was requested by Platte County R-3 School District patrons following a number of traffic crashes on Hwy. 92.


Miss Tiffany Meyer, 15-year-old daughter of Gene and Debbie Meyer of Kansas City and a sophomore at Park Hill School, was crowned 1992 Missouri Miss T.E.E.N.


KLT Bancshares, Inc. has filed an application with the Federal Reserve Board to become a bank holding company and to purchase 100 percent of the outstanding shares of Farley Bancshares, Inc., which in turn owns 100 percent of its subsidiary, Farley State Bank.


Platte County Collector Donna Nash received a nice little surprise last week when a taxpayer paid his taxes all in $1 bills–all $3,713 of it. “This is the first time anybody has done anything like that,” the collector said.
