30 Years Ago–December 20, 1991

Larry D. Davis of Platte City has announced that he will again seek the office of sheriff in Platte County next year. He served as a deputy sheriff in Platte County from 1976 to 1987.


The First Christian Church of Platte City at Third and Ferrel Streets will celebrate the 100th anniversary of their building on Sunday, Dec. 22. This is exactly 100 years to the day from when the keys were turned over to the church building committee.


The City of Platte City, Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative and Missouri Public Service announced the signing of a territorial agreement that eventually will positively affect hundreds of electric customers and the future development of Platte City. The signing took place Friday, Dec. 13 at City Hall in Platte City and marks the beginning of an era of cooperation between the two energy providers.


The Christmas Store brought cheer this year to 1,115 Platte County children, Carolyn Horseman, director of Platte County United Services office, reported this week.


There will no longer be an eastern district or western district commissioner on the Platte County Commission. Following action of the commission on Tuesday, Carol Tomb will still be presiding commissioner with Scott Spangler as the first district commissioner and Chuck Reineke as the second district commissioner.
