There’s a new law in Missouri that requires a mandatory prison sentence for those who use a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. Missouri’s new mandatory sentencing law was approved by the 1976 General Assembly and signed into law by Gov. Christopher S. Bond on June 24, 1976. It became effective Aug. 13, 1976.


The Parkville Chapter of the Business and Professional Women’s Club will hold its monthly meeting and annual Christmas party at the Chapel Woods Club House on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. The dinner is potluck and the 1976-77 officers will serve as hostesses. Mrs. Alvera Lancaster will preside and Ireta Cocayne will give the invocation.

Avon representatives of Leavenworth and Platte counties were recently honored at the Gold Buffet in North Kansas City with dinner and gifts. These ladies competed with 16 surrounding areas of comparable size in this annual competition. This is the first time this area has won this honor. One hundred seventy one representatives and husbands attended this celebration where each lady received a porcelain heart treasure box as well as other gifts.


Marine Private Bradley E. Costello, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Edward E. Costello of Parkville, has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.
