The developers of Belgian Bottom Business Park finally got the green light from the City of Riverside to develop their business park condominium complex. Belgian Bottom will be the first business at the new Horizons Project, a stretch of Riverside ground protected by the Missouri River levee and adjacent to I-635. The Riverside Board of Aldermen unanimously approved the site plan for Belgian Village by developer Complete Home Concepts.
Platte City resident Jared Innis questioned the city’s proposed land swap with Alderman Bill Knighton at the city’s aldermen meeting Tuesday night. In a proposed contract to exchange real estate, city administrator Keith Moody recommended the board approve the land transfer, which would deed to Knighton a 6,600 sq. ft. triangular piece of land that Knighton has leased from the city for the past 10 years. Knighton uses the land, which is enclosed by a chain link fence, as a storage lot for automobiles, Moody said. Knighton recused himself from the discussion. Ultimately the board voted to table the matter and will seek bids for appraisals of the two pieces of property
Kathy Hatfield, former girls basketball and volleyball coach, was inducted into the Platte County Pirate Hall of Fame. At a ceremony, Hatfield shared several of the hundreds of stories from her long teaching career.
