It’s Homecoming Week at Platte County R-3 High School. Highlights will include the crowning of a king and queen from a roster of senior candidates. The homecoming king was set to be crowned Wednesday night at a victory rally, while the queen is crowned at halftime of Friday night’s football game against Winnetonka. Candidates for queen and king are, in front from left: Chloe Bramble, Paige Roberts, Emerson Walter, Riley Smith, Sage Nordike, Triton Davey, Maddie Britz, and Annabella Diaz. Back row: Spencer Hay, Isaac Havemeier, Cade Fowler, Jared Parsons, Brock Vignery, LJ Scott, Austin Vanek, and Chris Gentilia. A homecoming parade begins at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8 and will run on Fourth Street in Platte City from Thomas Drive to the former Rising Star Elementary. Immediately following the parade, the Traditions Band will perform several pieces on the steps of the Platte County Courthouse in downtown Platte City. Then Wells Bank will also be hosting its annual community tailgate party in the High Pointe Shops Shopping Center parking lot.
