This morning, Platte County High School was temporarily put into a “hold-in-place” status briefly while administration investigated a notification from its internet monitoring system, school officials said. ‘Hold-in-place’ is a school safety protocol where students are moved into or stay in classrooms, classroom doors are secured, instruction continues in classrooms, and people are kept out of hallways or public areas so that school officials can assess a situation.
Classes resumed as normal, and students and staff were safe at all times, school officials say.
“We remind parents, staff, and student that school safety is the responsibility of the entire school community. Please follow the principle of ‘see something, say something.’ If anyone (student, parent, staff member, community member) sees or hears anything of concern, please contact the district office at (816) 858-5420 so that those concerns can be investigated,” Platte County R-3 school officials said in an electronic message to parents this morning.
