Jamie Linn Hardesty of Platte City received a Master of Arts degree in music education at Truman State University’s graduation ceremonies Aug. 4. Hardesty will be working for the Mid-Buchanan School District as a music teacher and band director. Hardesty is the daughter of Steve and Sandy Hardesty and a 2001 graduate of Platte County High School.


Hungry attendees lined up for hot culinary delights being served up with enthusiasm and a smile at the Nick and Jake’s booth at the Taste of Parkville event Thursday evening. Taste of Parkville included dinner and beverages from 15 different restaurants. More than 1,000 people attended.

A parade of motorcycles led by Mayor Dave Brooks and Alderman George McClintock in a military jeep made its way up Fourth Street in Platte City on Saturday evening at the city’s annual End of the Trail Festival.


Between the Lines column by Ivan Foley: “I’m officially declaring Harold Coons, a Platte City resident who is bringing the Sunshine Law court case against the City of Platte City, as a great American hero. Any private citizen who stands up for the public’s right to know as strongly as Coons is doing right now is deserving of the rock star status he is gaining in some circles of the community.”
