About 75 firefighters from eight area fire departments responded to a fire Monday at the Holladay bar and grill in Weston. John Ross, owner, speculated the fire could have been started by either an electrical malfunction or grease on a stove. Fire officials estimated the damage at $50,000 to the restaurant and there was also damage to two neighboring business firms.


In a brief ceremony Monday afternoon, F.M. and Mary Kay Wilson donated a building they own to the City of Platte City. The building is the west part of the structure at Second Street and Main, which housed the Division of Family Services. It will be used for the police department and the municipal division of court.


Stacia Reineke, the nine-year-old daughter of Chuck and Corky Reineke of Edgerton, was crowned Missouri’s Junior Miss of America in a competition held in Springfield.


Mr. and Mrs. William Wilson of Overland Park, Kan. and Mrs. Patricia S. Wilson of Enid, Okla. have announced the engagement of their daughter, Susan Irene Wilson, to Todd Patrick Black, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wills of Kansas City, and Charles Black of Liberty, Mo. Todd is the grandson of Ann VanHoozer, Platte City.


Workers moved office furniture into the new office of the Platte County Division of Family Services all last week.
