John and Patsy Baber of Platte County will note their 50th anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006 from 2-5 p.m. at the Hoover Christian Church, Hwy. 92 and B. Hwy. The occasion will be hosted by their children, Susan, Steven and Linda with grandchildren Taylor and Jackson, along with John’s parents, George and Francie Baber.


Harold and Sharon Sherwood of Platte City are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. They were married on Aug. 6, 1966 at the First Christian Church of Platte City. Rev. Lester M. Weeks officiated the ceremony. Children and grandchildren of the coupe are Eric, Jennifer, Grant and Lauren Sherwood; Chris, Mandy, and Jaxson Sherwood; and Eric, Elisa, and Braden Parker.

Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry celebrated her 23rd birthday in Kansas City on Tuesday, July 18 by greeting the public at the Kansas City Zoo and handing out free samples of Blue Bell Ice Cream, a welcome treat on a 100 degree day.


Platte County Pachyderm Club will hear from candidates in next week’s Republican primary, including the two candidates for 32nd district state representative, Rob Willard and John Destefano. The meeting will be at the Touche night club in Parkville, located just north of the Southern Platte County Community Center.
