45 Years Ago–July 9, 1976

Ferrellgas, Inc. is currently moving its office and bulk storage plant from the present location in Platte City to its new facilities on North Bethel Road just north of Hwy. 92, two miles east of Platte City.


Mr. and Mrs. Glen Heck are grandparents of a baby boy, born July 5, 1976 to their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ralston. The baby weighed 9.5 pounds.


Mrs. George Larcy is a patient at Spelman Memorial Hospital after suffering a stroke. Mrs. Larcy has been the Tiffany Springs correspondent for The Landmark for many years.


The Platte County Court voted Tuesday to place a $1.98 million bond issue on the Aug. 3 primary election ballot to renovate and expand the Platte County Courthouse with a 27,000 square foot addition, including a new jail.


A time capsule containing pictures and artifacts of the time, was buried at the Dearborn Cemetery entrance to be opened 100 years hence. It contains pictures of families and their homes and a North Platte yearbook of 1976. A stone was placed as a marker.


Col. S. Smith, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, pointed out that over 500 persons have been killed on the state’s streets and highways so far this year, should be enough to convince drivers they are going to have to do more defensive driving to survive.
