Puff pieces vs. actual news

EDITOR:

WOW! Just WOW!! Last week’s Between the Lines was overflowing with news and useful information. Thanks for keeping us readers up to date on all of the really important issues of the day. Let me comment on a few.

I read that you have been invited to a political group sometime in the next few months. With The Landmark capability of live streaming, would it be possible to live stream the future political group presentation along with audience comments?

Interesting that the county commissioners, at least the chairman, are concerned about the lack of interest by the press. Is it possible that they are feeling neglected because they aren’t reading very many positive stories about their actions while they ignore the less than positive press reports?

I agree that perhaps all of the county commission meetings need to be video recorded on ZOOM or some other video meeting service so that taxpayers can be informed about what the county commissioners actually say about their important business. Or maybe comments about other things. Both would be interesting.

Thanks to Sharen Hunt for her comments to the commissioners about transparency.

Press releases are NOT news, but just “puff pieces” most of the time. However, I am sure the commissioners are happy with only puff pieces rather than actual news.

Finally, are the commissioners on the list of folks in the dunk tank? Seems like that would be popular.
