Mrs. Barbara Bennet McNatt and James Snook, Jr. exchanged marriage vows June 19, 1976 at New Market Christian Church. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Foster of Dearborn and he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Snook, Sr., of Edgerton. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Paul Brockhausen.
Beginning in August, Missouri farmers will no longer have to pay city sales tax on purchases of farm equipment as long as the purchaser lives outside of city limits.
Members of the Platte Puchase Chapter D.A.R. and their guests toured the Fort Leavenworth Historical Museum on Saturday, June 5. They first visited the Post Museum at Fort Leavenworth. This contains one of the finest exhibits of 19th century horse drawn vehicles in the country–the carriage in which President Lincoln traveled from Troy, Kan. to Leavenworth in 1859; a sleigh belonging to the Custer family; and a 1790 prairie schooner make up part of the collection.
The 1976 presidential campaign finally came to Missouri this past weekend, but it didn’t stay for long. President Ford, Republican challengers Ronald Reagan and Democratic hopeful Edmund Brown all came to make appearances, but the big battle was between Ford and Reagan in Springfield.
