Turning back the clock

There was an old-timey look and feel to downtown Weston on Saturday, June 5 for the Ben Holladay Festival. A parade featured riders on horseback, antique vehicles, floats such as this one by the Weston business known as The Candy Jar, and much more. At the end of the parade, a “pumpkin chunkin’ cannon” from the Weston Orchard and Vineyard shot candy to young parade attendees. The Candy Jar at 408 Main St. bills itself as a store that “will take you back in time with our nostalgic candles but still offer some of the more hard to find candy you know and love.” Kids games highlighted the afternoon activities and there was a street dance with live music in the evening hours. The festival is described as an 1800s nod to Missouri’s Bicentennial.
