The City of Platte City is ready to raise the potentially controversial topic of annexation once again. In a press conference and special meeting held Wednesday afternoon/early evening, city officials announced the intention to annex two large areas of land contiguous to the current city limits. Mayor Dave Brooks and special legal counsel hired by the city made the announcement of the city’s intent. A public vote on the proposed annexation is scheduled to be held in November, according to Chris Williams, whose law firm Williams and Campo of Lee’s Summit, has been hired as special legal counsel by the city to lead the annexation effort.
At Parkville’s Board of Aldermen meeting held Tuesday, the board unanimously agreed to pass a preliminary plan in favor of building a new housing development on 75 acres at the southwest corner of Brink Meyer Road.
