On Friday, May 3, SafeHaven, the Northland shelter for battered persons and their children, held their Volunteer Appreciation Night aboard the Missouri River Queen. A moonlight cruise featured a magician and lively music.


Suzanne Berger and Philip M. Jones of Dobbs Ferry, New York were united in marriage on Sunday, May 12, 1991 at The Montauk Club, Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Mark and Elizabeth (McGaw) Wehrle of Warrensburg, Mo. are the parents of a daughter born on Wednesday, May 1, 1991 at Central Missouri Medical Center. She was named Jordan Elizabeth and weighed eight pounds, 12 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.


More than 2,200 people attended the annual Park Hill Art Festival on May 4-5. The event, sponsored by the Parkville Patricians Club, displayed 2,300 pieces of original art in seven categories created by Park Hill students grades K-12.


Platte County Prosecutor Vic Peters was the speaker at the regular monthly meeting of the Platte City Chamber of Commerce Thursday morning at Fannie’s Restaurant. Peters gave the business owners some tips on how to avoid being taken by bad check artists and how to prosecute them.
