30 Years Ago–May 17, 1991

Lee and Mary Wagy recently were awarded the McDonald’s Outstanding Store Award for their restaurant located at I-29 and Hwy. 92 in Platte City.


The Parkville Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its spring celebration, Riverfest, for Saturday, May 18 at English Landing Park. Festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The award winning Park Hill Jazz Band will perform at 11 a.m. followed by Riverrock at 1 p.m. The evening’s feature is the Dan Doran Band from 7-10 p.m. The chamber’s beer garden will be open during the festivities. Chamber president is David Boucher and Riverfest chairman is Mary Ann Harvey.


Streets around the courthouse were cleaned up last week by a few students from Terry Riley’s class. They were part of a group of 450 Platte County R-3 High School students who performed community service in Platte City. The crew included Brian Fergason, Chris Flenker, Steve Cameron, and Marq Israel. Other crews painted, planted flowers and washed windows.


John Hall, director of the Platte County Vo-Tech School in Platte City, announced that the R-3 school board has offered a contract to Dr. Gregory Nolting as assistant director of the Vo-Tech School.


The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission has awarded a contract this month to provide resurfacing of existing pavement on Route 371 in Platte County.
