45 Years Ago–April 30, 1976

Karl Rice, a 28-year-old resident of Weston and a former Missouri State Highway Patrol officer, became the second person to file for the Democratic nomination for sheriff of Platte County in the 1976 primary election. Rice, a five year veteran of the Highway Patrol and a former police officer at Lake Waukomis, is presently self-employed in the construction business.


Ralph Wittmeyer was appointed last Thursday night to fill the vacancy on the Platte County R-3 School Board which was created by the resignation of Jack Coots.


Mr. and Mrs. Rick Cline of Dearborn announce the birth of their daughter Carey Nicholle on April 27, 1976 at the Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville.


Mr. and Mrs. John J. Morelli of Platte City announce the engagement of their daughter, Sandra, to David A. Hessenflow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Hessenflow of Richmond, Mo.


Mr. and Mrs. Gordon L. Miller announce the engagement of their daughter, Helen Elizabeth to Mr. Lloyd Graham Hanley, Jr. son of Col. and Mrs. Lloyd G. Hanley of Jefferson City.


The Platte County Democratic Convention will be held Tuesday, May 11, 1976 at the middle school in Platte City, says Roland Giffee, chairperson of the Platte County Democratic Central Committee.
