Is there a shortage of textbooks in the Platte County R-3 School District? Members of the school board will attempt “to get to the bottom” of that “rumor,” said member Trish Stinnett, when the board has its regular April session. At this point, the accurate answer is “No, there is no textbook shortage,” according to members of the school administration. “This persistent rumor that we don’t have textbooks is not true,” said Ron Harmon, assistant superintendent for curriculum.


A building permit has been issued to the Trex Mart convenience store east of I-29 at Dearborn. The store will add a Subway sandwich shop to its existing operation, says Dearborn Alderman Bill Edwards.


The Platte City Aldermen decided on Tuesday night that they want the Platte City Chamber of Commerce to “show us some more details” about how the chamber intends to spend $10,000 the chamber has requested from the city, and how the chamber intends to include more city involvement in chamber events and plans. “If I’m going to give you $10,000 I have a right to ask you what you’re going to do with it,” Mayor Dave Brooks said. “We’re not trying to run the chamber, we just want to be a partner.”
