Nancy Felix of Platte County was working the polls at the Seven Bridges Clubhouse south of Platte City on Tuesday, April 6, encouraging a “no” vote on the Metropolitan Community College (MCC) question. The MCC question would have annexed the Platte County R-3 School District boundaries into the MCC district, which would have brought a 21 cent tax levy to residents and businesses. The measure was soundly defeated, with 68% opposed. Felix was one of a handful of local residents who went door-to-door in many neighborhoods to campaign against the proposal.
