45 Years Ago–April 9, 1976

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin C. Hochard of Farley, Mo announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Mary Louise Hochard, to Ronald Kyle Landon. Mr. Landon is the son of Mrs. Sharon Brunjes and Mr. Larry Landon of Kansas City, Mo.


Miss Micky West, a bride-elect, was honored with a miscellaneous shower Sunday afternoon, April 4 by Miss Annette Cook at their home east of Dearborn.


Truman Glenn was elected mayor of Platte City Tuesday in the annual city election. Jesse L. Miller, unopposed, was elected municipal judge; William H. Williams; Charles S. Umphreys and Terry Riley were re-elected aldermen.


Miss Jean Porter, nurse’s aide, is Spelman Memorial Hospital’s Employee of the Year, chosen by her peers, the hospital’s employees. She is, according to her nomination by Mrs. Kip Kunselman, R.N., evening nurse supervisor, “an individual whom everyone would like to duplicate.”


Platte County R-3 High School students and faculty sponsors will conduct a Read-A-Thon on April 9-10 at the senior high school library.


Missouri could lose all its federal aid to dependent children (ADC) money if the general assembly does not pass bills to put the state in compliance with an amendment of the Social Security Act.
