The brand new Springs Aquatic Center at Tiffany Hills Park should be ready for the swimming season this Memorial Day, according to Tammie Tritico, assistant manager, North Region, for the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department.
A former employee has filed a lawsuit against Platte County, claiming sexual harassment and gender discrimination took place against her in the workplace and the county commission didn’t react appropriately to the complaints. The lawsuit, filed last week in Platte County Circuit Court by Carla Mazotti, alleges the county commission at the time knew of the alleged offenses and failed to take appropriate action. Mazotti worked as a child support advocate in the prosecutor’s office at the time of the alleged harassment. The complaints dealt with alleged actions by an employee who at the time worked in the county’s facilities management department.
Incumbent Platte City Mayor Dave Brooks was re-elected to a third consecutive two-year term. Brooks had 325 votes to 260 for Kevin Robinson, 67 for Melody Doescher and 46 for Michael Walsh.
The Bank of Weston has announced that Jeanie Brockman, branch manager at the bank’s KCI location, has been promoted to vice president. Brockman has been with the bank for 31 years.
