Gomer Krieger, owner of Krieger Hauling Co., was listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon at the University of Kansas Burn Center following injuries sustained in an explosion Saturday morning in Platte City. Police said Krieger was working with a cutting torch tearing down the former Kossen Auto Body building and was cutting near a barrel believed to contain a flammable which exploded.


The Ben Ferrel Platte County Museum opens the 1991 season April 2, 12-4 p.m., with docent guided tours. The museum board has announced that the 1882 home museum, archives, and genealogical library is now completely finished and will be open five days a week.

First Lt. Tom Feldhausen, a 1983 graduate of Platte County R-3 High School and more recently a flier in the Desert Storm combat, returned a favor to the first grade class of Maxine Lusk Thursday. Wearing his flight suit, he visited the first graders and stood at attention as the class and Mrs. Lusk said the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Feldhausen has been flying an F-111 in the Persian Gulf War.


Platte County R-3’s first ever competitive girls softball game was an impressive victory, with the Lady Pirates crushing St. Mary’s 18-3.
