On Friday, Todd Graves of Platte County officially announced he is stepping down as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri. The reason? He says he is ready to start a private practice. “It’s the farm kid in me, Graves told The Landmark. “I value freedom and value having my own business.” He said his law firm will be a national practice.
The Park Hill School District is peering into the future and recognizing the need to prepare now for needed improvements, programs and facilities districtwide. The district will ask patrons to support a $33 million bond issue that will authorize the school district to sell school bonds which would finance capital projects for the district.
The City of Riverside will begin paying for ambulance service that until now had been free. The city’s aldermen last week agreed to contract with Metropolitan Ambulance Services Trust (MAST) and pay $115,000 per year.
Platte City will give $1,100 toward a metro-wide aerial photograph project that will provide digitized photographs the city can use in its GIS mapping system. The Mid America Regional Council (MARC) GIS committee has been working on a contract to have new aerial photography completed for all the counties in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
