David and SuLin Schorn announced the birth of their son, Austin David, Saturday, Jan. 26 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. He weighed in at seven pounds, seven ounces and 20 inches long. Grandparents Buddy and Virginia Boswell were there to welcome jim home, along with sister Chasity.
Mark Mauzey was presented the Extension Leader Honor Roll Award by Sharen Hunt, program director, at the meeting of the Platte County Extension. Mauzey, outgoing Extension Council chairman, has served on the council for four years one year as secretary and two years as chairman.
Students and staff at East Platte Elementary School observed its version of red, white and blue day on Friday by wearing those colors. Also, the fourth graders of Mrs. Chris Eaton led the student body in the singing of patriotic songs at a school assembly. Gregg McPherson, East Platte principal, asked the students to remember the members of the armed forces serving in the Middle East in their thoughts and prayers.
Carol Coots, representing he Platte Purchase Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, witnessed the signing of a proclamation by Platte City Mayor Steve Wegner. The document proclaims American History Month in Platte City and urges all residents to join in recognizing the importance of American history in our lives.
