The message is clear. Annexation is a priority for the Platte City Board of Alderman. As part of that message delivered at their regular meeting on Tuesday evening, three points were clarified by board members. They are interested in annexing land south of Platte City to 120th Street, land that is planned to be part of the Seven Bridges residential development by developers David and John Barth.


Students at Platte County R-3 School District returned from Christmas break to a finished main entrance that connects the former middle school and high school. The 11,090 square foot connection creates a new main entrance for the entire facility.

For the past 18 years, Chip Sherman has walked the sidelines as head football coach of the Platte County Pirates. Now after all his success, the Pirates’ gridiron leader is considering offers from a least two other Kansas City metropolitan schools. While rumors have circulated in previous years about Sherman’s future, the rumors this year were confirmed when he interviewed with Shawnee Mission Northwest in mid-December. In an interview with The Landmark, Sherman said that he is considering offers from Shawnee Mission Northwest and Kearney.
