30 Years Ago–January 4, 1991

Platte City’s old water plant will be taken down. It hasn’t been used since Platte City recently voted to dismantle the water plant to avoid expenses in keeping it open. It had been hoped the plant could be used to sell water to other areas, but no contracts were completed.


Scott and Kelly Becker are the proud parents of a son, Casey Scott, born Saturday, morning, Dec. 21 at Spelman Hospital. The little one is the grandson of Spud and Shirley Snow and great-grandson of Woodie and Lala Snow. He weighed in at six pounds and 10 ounces.


The Snow Creek Ski Area north of Weston finally got cold enough temperatures to open Dec. 22 and barring some unseasonable warm temperatures is expected to continue offering winter sports. Company officials said the Midnight Ski Shift will now start at 11 p.m. and go until 4 a.m.


There were a lot of Democrats in the audience Thursday afternoon when Platte County officials elected in November were officially sworn into office. Democrats swept all the contested elections and a number of their supporters were there to celebrate.


The Christmas programs at the Baptist Church and Christian Church were on Sunday evening, Dec. 23.
