45 Years Ago–December 12, 1975

Miss Marjory Ingels Holt of Platte City and Mr. Robert Henry Wolf, formerly of Dallas, Texas, were united in marriage on Saturday, afternoon, November 29, 1975 at the home of the bride. The Rev. Elwyn Hays of Englewood Baptist Church, Antioch, officiated.


Mr. and Mrs. Bob Denney, of Edgerton, are the proud parents of a son born Dec. 3, 1975 at the hospital in Smithville. He has been given the name Matthew Robert.


Platte County R-3 wrestlers won a thriller in their season opener, Thursday, Dec. 4. Rival conference opponent Mid-Buchanan came on like gang busters in the lighter weights of the dual meet and built up a 25-9 lead with only five of the 12 remaining. The Pirates grabbed the lead in the final match, taking the win with a score of 35-28.


Dr. and Mrs. Henry J. Miller of Platte City will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children. The open house will take place on Dec. 21, 1975 from 1:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon. Their children are Debbie Aikmus, Raymond and Vicki Payne, and Skip Miller. They have three grandchildren, all of Platte City.


Robert E. Cockriel of Platte City was honored with a 50-year pin for being a member of the Missouri Rural Letter Carriers Association for 50 years. Cockriel started as a rural mail carrier from the Platte City Post Office on May 1, 1925 and retired on Nov. 26, 1965.
