Workmen have recently begun breaking up the pavement in front of the Platte City Middle School as work shifted into high gear last week on construction of a new $3 million middle school. The new building will be located between the present middle school and the high school and will house fifth through eighth graders in the Platte City area.


Pairings for the Class 3A District 16 volleyball tournament have been announced and the Platte County Lady Pirates are the No. 2 seed behind Kearney.

Two eighth graders at Platte City Middle School, Chad Evertson, son of Mrs. Beverly Evertson, Platte City, and Kynda Goodwin, daughter of Alan and Linda Goodwin, Platte City, have abstract artwork on display. The class is under the direction of Dennis Hendren.


Platte City police knocked on doors and distributed flyers on crime prevention last week as a part of October Crime Prevention Month. The visit to the neighborhoods was to try to get neighbors to work with each other in helping to stamp out crime, explained Sgt. Ralph Landis, executive officer.
