Platte City Mayor Dave Brooks addressed the board of aldermen Tuesday night regarding concerns about the safety of the intersection at Hwy. 92 and Marshall Road, near the entrance to the local post office. “We’re going to have a horrible accident up there someday and a lot of people are going to be killed,” Brooks said. Brooks said he went up to the Cash Saver recently and parked to watch traffic that travels through that intersection on a daily basis. He mentioned his concerns of how cars and trucks pop over the hill and for the people turning off Marshall and by the post office it’s difficult to see that traffic until they’re at the top of the hill. The city would like MoDOT to look at the intersection.

As one Platte City police officer prepares to step away from his duties on the force, another prepares to step into the position. Platte City Police Chief Joe McHale announced that he will promote Officer Beth Lewark Willoughby to sergeant on Oct. 19. Willoughby will fill the vacancy that is being made with the retirement of Sgt. Dennis Trabue. “I have all the confidence in the world that Sgt. Willoughby will exceed my expectations in the area of criminal investigations,” McHale said.

Sonia Ray has submitted her resignation as city clerk for the City of Dearborn. She had only worked in the position for six weeks.
