15 Years Ago–September 29, 2005

U.S. Congressman Sam Graves met with Ross Pirtle, owner of Pirtle Winery in Weston, last week to take a tour of their facility. Pirtle showed Graves some fo the latest hand-picked grapes to arrive from one of their vineyards, before they are put through the crusher and stem-removal process. The winery was a recent recipient of federal aid through the United States Department of Agricultural Rural Development.


Danielle Marie Hillix and Evan John Stange were united in marriage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2005 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Kansas City. Dancing and hors d’oeuvre followed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dave and Susie Hillix of Camden Point. The groom is the son of Richard and Carol Stange of Wichita, Kan.


Kelly Walker was crowned Platte County High School Homecoming queen.


Former Platte County Prosecutor Tammy Glick has been named chair of the Tri-County-Mental Health Services Board of Directors for 2005-2006. Glick succeeds Dean Henricksen, who retired from the board after more than 12 years.


The Platte County Commission has decided to exercise the option to buy the ground on which the county-owned and operated golf course, Shiloh Springs, sits.
