With gold-painted shovels, officers of the Platte City Middle School Student Council tried to dig into the hard ground Saturday morning for the official groundbreaking for the new $3 million middle school to be built in Platte City.


Platte County R-3 has agreed to buy the triangular piece of highway frontage property located in front of the present Platte City Middle School, R-3 school board approved the signing of a contract with F.M. Wilson to buy the 13 acre tract. Cost of the land will be $111,102.75, reports Don Siegrist, R-3 superintendent.


The volleyball tournament for the Stewart-Kraxner family netted $1,300 Saturday. They were in an accident several months ago and the medical bills are terrible. Mr. Stewart will be off work for a year. Mrs. Stewart is the niece of Pearl Johnson.


Platte County’s Lady Pirates defeated Cameron Thursday to remain undefeated in the KCI Conference volleyball race.


Platte City Mayor Steve Wegner announced that Police Chief Charles Masoner has been relieved of his duties.
