With gold-painted shovels, officers of the Platte City Middle School Student Council tried to dig into the hard ground Saturday morning for the official groundbreaking for the new $3 million middle school to be built in Platte City.
Platte County R-3 has agreed to buy the triangular piece of highway frontage property located in front of the present Platte City Middle School, R-3 school board approved the signing of a contract with F.M. Wilson to buy the 13 acre tract. Cost of the land will be $111,102.75, reports Don Siegrist, R-3 superintendent.
The volleyball tournament for the Stewart-Kraxner family netted $1,300 Saturday. They were in an accident several months ago and the medical bills are terrible. Mr. Stewart will be off work for a year. Mrs. Stewart is the niece of Pearl Johnson.
