Bond has been set at $1 million cash-only for Jacob E. McGinnis, who is accuse of killing 32-year-old Steve J. Sandoval of Platte City last week. McGinnis was arrested in Putnam County, naked in the back of his car that was parked in a cornfield.


The Platte County R-3 School District has announced this year candidates for homecoming king and queen. This year’s king will be crowned at halftime of the Powder Puff game on Wednesday night, with the queen’s coronation taking place at halftime of the Pirate football game Friday evening. Candidates include Jakob Ristau, Cyndi Hardeman, Ellen Zubeck, David Scheetz, Sam Barfoot, Amanda Cash, Tyler Grimes, Courtney Bridger, Stevn Whitby, Kellen Goody, Kelly Walker, John Jacobs, Connor Flynt, Brittani Louderback, Branson Billings, Abby Cockrill.


Patricia Stinnett, a member of the Platte County R-3 Board of Education and more than 90 school board members and administrators from the Kansas City area, attended the Missouri School Boards Association’s Region 4 meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Raymore-Peculiar R-2 High School. The topic of the meeting was “A Dialog for Policymakers–High Academic Achievement for All. The program was presented by MSBA’s Director of the Academy of Pulbic School Governance, David Lineberry.
