Event set downtown on Oct. 22
A Beer and Whiskey Festival is being planned in downtown Platte City in October.
The Platte City Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event, which is set for Thursday, Oct. 22 from 5-8 p.m.
The event is limited to not more than 300 tickets, and pre-registration is required. Alcohol will be limited to taste sampling of local regional beer and whiskey, no additional alcohol sales or consumption will be allowed, officials say. As is always the case, the chamber of commerce is going through the process of getting an event permit through the City of Platte City. Also, the chamber has communicated to the Platte County Health Department for guidance on conducting a safe event.
The evening will include live music and food. Third and Main will be the center of activity for the festival. Access will be restricted through the pre-purchased tickets. Pre-registration is required, there will be no ticket sales at the event.
Ticket prices include event access, band, food and samples of local/ regional beer and whiskey. Live music will feature Matt Snook.
A turkey leg and homemade pretzels will be provided to all attendees. VIP tickets will be access to a tented area and an expanded food menu.
The chamber is asking the city for street closure from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Areas of closure are scheduled to include Main Street from the middle of the 300 block west to the middle of the 200 block, and Third Street from the alley north of Main south to Ferrel Street.
Alcohol consumption and containers will be limited to the street closure areas. The city will supply barricades and trash receptacles.
