Looking forward to a successful season, the Pirate football team of Platte City opened it gridiron schedule in a big way last Friday night. Rolling up a score of 55 to 6, the Pirates literally ran the Wolverines from Kansas City West off the field. Racking up a total of 293 yards total offense, the Pirates gained 282 yards on the ground. The leading rusher for the Pirates was Brian Hetherington with 18 carries for 153 yards and 5 touchdowns.
The Rev. G. W. Zunker, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Farley for the past 14 years, retired from the active ministry on August 31, 1975 after 40 years of service. The congregation had a farewell dinner at the church on Sunday, Aug. 31.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Montgomery are the parents of a son born Sept. 4, 1975 at the Methodist Medical Center. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Montgomery are the proud grandparents.

Glen Harris, son of Dorothy and Earl Naylor, recently took first place in the five-axle division of the National Truck Roadeo held in Indianapolis. There were 171 contestants entered from 33 states.
