A statewide toll free telephone number for reporting suspected cases of child abuse and neglect has been put into operation by the Missouri Division of Family Services. According to Ann Dandurant, Family Services’ child abuse consultant, the hotline number was mandated as part of the new child abuse reporting law signed recently by Gov. Kit Bond. The law obligates certain people such as physicians, law enforcement officers, teachers, and ministers to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect, however anyone may report.
