During a budget workshop on Tuesday night, members of the Platte City Board of Aldermen discussed the funding element for a proposed new $250,000 parking lot in downtown Platte City. The parking lot in discussion would be located across from City Hall next to the Farm Bureau building near the intersection of Main Street and Marshall. City Administrator Keith Moody informed the board that the funds for the parking lot had been set aside for Fiscal Year 2006.
A Northland first-of-its-kind aquatics center is under construction due to a collaborative effort between Platte County and the City of Kansas City. The Springs at Tiffany, located at Tiffany Springs Park at the intersection of Tiffany Springs Road and N. Congress Ave., will provide Northland residents with their first-ever aquatics park.
A new political club with a tie to the Republican National Committee is being formed in Platte County. The Platte County Pachyderm Club will hold its first meeting on Thursday, Sept 1 at the Skillet restaurant in Parkville. Lee Pedego will serve as the organization’s first president.
Parkville’s current city hall, located at 1201 East St. near downtown, could eventually be offered for sale as the city plans for a new municipal building. City officials on Tuesday night gave a preliminary nod to seeking a lease-purchase agreement to construct a new city hall in the Parkville Commons area at the corner of Lewis St. and Clark Ave.
