Teachers, administrators get 2.19% raise at R-3

Platte County School District

Teachers and administrators at Platte County R-3 will see an average salary increase of 2.19 percent for the upcoming school year.

At the July meeting, the Platte County R-3 Board of Education approved salary increases in various staff categories as part of the district’s strategic goal to attract, retain, and develop a high quality staff.

Team Platte County (consisting of a representative team of teachers from across the District), as well as classified (support) staff representatives, recommended step movement on all of the salary schedules. The members recommended range changes on the classified schedule for the following job groups: custodians, department level administrative assistants, paraprofessionals and building administrative assistants.

Members also decided to complete the payment to staff to restore the frozen salary schedule year in the 2013-14 school year. The frozen year amount provided an additional 1.5% increase to a limited number of classified and certified staff members who did not move in step placement last year due to limited available dollars. The recommendation as a result of this collaborative effort was used to ensure all available dollars were distributed based on current and trend data of the district’s ranking and market comparisons of every job classification.

“This strategy will make our schedules more competitive with surrounding districts, thus increasing the district’s ability to attract high quality staff,” school officials said.

Average increases by staff category are listed below.

Certified Staff (Teachers and Administrators): 2.19%

Classified Staff (Administrative Assistants, Custodians, Paraprofessionals, etc.): 1.5% – 4.5%, with the average being 2.78%

Technical/Professional Staff (Nurses, Social Workers, etc.): 1.5%

Transportation (Drivers, Aides, etc.): 1.5%
